Srirangam is one of the 108 Divya Desam of the Lord Vishnu. The temple is the first Divya Desam of the Lord Vishnu. Here God Vishnu in the form of Ranganatha Swamy(periya perumal) in a reclining position facing south. And god Lakshmi in the form of ranganayaki.
The temple complex is 156 areas in extend and as you enter the temple see the life line, stone art, nature beauty and feeling of devotion all around. The artwork on a stone of walls and pillars depicting god's situations from far and various aspects of life.Srirangam is the foremost of the eight self manifested shrines of the Lord Vishnu. This temple lies on an island formed by the twin Rivers "Cauvery and Kollidam".
